IBAN Structure Croatia

Last reviewed: · Source: ISO 13616 / SWIFT IBAN Registry

Croatia's IBAN has 21 characters in the format HRkk BBBB BBBC CCCC CCCC C. After HR and two check digits come a 7-digit bank code (VBDI, assigned by the Croatian National Bank) and the 10-digit account number. When Croatia joined the euro area on 1 January 2023, the euro replaced the kuna as the national currency. Since then all transfers from the euro area to Croatia are ordinary SEPA euro payments — a BIC is no longer required, and a transfer costs the same as a domestic one.
